参考消息网11月11日报道 据台湾《上报》网站11月8日报道，知情人士透露，美国在台协会（AIT）将约中国国民党主席郑丽文会谈，盼确认蓝营对于防务特别预算的态度及立场。此外，美方也不排除未来除和国民党中央干部定期会面外，加强与个别国民党民意代表之间的互动对话。
据了解，自上月18日国民党主席改选投票结束后，美国便希望确认国民党未来的两岸路线及国际政策，并建立有效沟通渠道。
知情人士透露，AIT约见郑丽文的主要目的，除了想当面恭喜郑当选国民党主席外，更重要的是想在与郑丽文会谈期间，厘清国民党对于军购案及防务特别预算的看法，确认国民党党团是否会阻挡或删冻，并了解未来国民党中央跟党团之间的沟通协调、决策机制。
另据台湾“中时新闻网”11月9日报道，中国国民党主席郑丽文1日就任，传出AIT将与郑丽文会谈。资深媒体人董智森认为，美国真正关心的就是防务预算。至于两岸政策，董智森直言，国民党的政策一向都很简单，就是“九二共识”。
董智森9日表示，美国真正关心的就是高达9495亿元新台币（1元新台币约合0.23元人民币——本网注）的防务预算。他指出，美国担心防务预算被砍，因为台湾向美国购买的6000多亿元新台币武器还没交付。
